Why are antibiotics ineffective for treating recurring BV?
Mainly, because they’re so aggressive. Antibiotics remove all the bacteria from your vagina—the bad but also the good. This means your vagina no longer has the healthy stuff (the ‘good’ fighters), and it’s left open to reinfection from the harmful bacteria again.
Many women experience thrush shortly after taking a course of antibiotics prescribed for another infection. This is because antibiotics can disrupt the natural balance of bacteria and yeast in the body. Ironically, while antifungal treatments—not antibiotics—are typically used to treat thrush, the cycle of imbalance caused by frequent antibiotic use can make recurrent thrush more likely. It can feel like a frustrating cycle.
As women, sometimes it feels like we’re on our own. Aside from prescribing more antibiotics, health professionals just don’t have all the answers for us, so we continue to suffer in silence.

How does boric acid support vaginal health?
Day 1: You’ve just inserted your first boric acid suppository
It dissolves quickly, working to help rebalance your vaginal pH. You might notice some light discharge as it dissolves - that’s completely normal, and a sign your body is already starting to respond.
Day 2-3: Relief Begins
By now, you may start to notice a reduction in odour and discomfort. Your vaginal environment is beginning to rebalance, and the boric acid is working to combat harmful bacteria or yeast. Some women might experience slight irritation - this is usually temporary and often settles as your body adjusts.
Day 4-7: Balanced pH & Symptom Relief
By this stage, odour and discomfort should be noticeably reduced. If you were experiencing itching or abnormal discharge, you’ll likely start to see improvement. Many women feel fresher, more comfortable, and more in tune with their bodies at this point.
Day 8-10: Deep Restoration
By now, your vaginal microbiome is finding its balance. Beneficial bacteria are starting to thrive, while harmful bacteria and yeast are being kept in check. If you’ve struggled with recurring infections, this is a powerful stage, you're not just treating symptoms, you're laying the foundation for lasting vaginal health.
Day 11-14: Maintaining Optimal Health
You should be feeling balanced, fresh, and comfortable. This is the final stretch of your 14-day journey, ensuring full effectiveness. Some users may choose to use boric acid periodically for maintenance, especially after periods, intimacy, or antibiotic use.
Beyond Day 14: Long-Term Vaginal Wellness
If you’re prone to imbalances, you may benefit from continued use as needed. Pairing boric acid with our probiotic suppositories, breathable bamboo underwear, and gentle intimate wash can help support long-term vaginal balance and confidence - from the inside out.

How to Use Boric Acid and Probiotic Suppositories
When dealing with bacterial vaginosis or thrush, we recommend starting with our Boric Acid Suppositories. Here’s a suggested treatment plan:
Boric Acid Suppositories
Insert one suppository at bedtime for 14 consecutive nights. This helps eliminate harmful bacteria or yeast and restore balance.
Probiotic Suppositories
After completing the boric acid course and once symptoms have cleared, begin using our probiotic suppositories to support long-term vaginal health.
Use one suppository nightly for 7 nights, followed by one per week for 10 weeks to help maintain a healthy vaginal microbiome and reduce the risk of recurrence.
Note:
Boric acid and probiotic suppositories should not be used at the same time. Boric acid works to eliminate harmful microbes, while probiotics help restore beneficial bacteria. For best results, use them in separate phases, as outlined above.
I’ve never used boric acid before. What does it do?
Boric acid is a long-standing, natural, tried and tested remedy for common vaginal infections like BV and thrush.
Due to its weak acidity, boric acid can help to gently balance the pH of the vagina, restoring it to optimum levels (it has a bacteriostatic and fungistatic action, so it makes the vagina slightly more acidic while disrupting the fungal cell membrane).
Basically, it encourages a harmonious balance between the ‘good’ bacteria and the ‘bad’. It’s a simple solution for women who suffer from recurring thrush and BV, and those who’ve not found long-term relief from antibiotics.
Is it safe to put boric acid in your vagina?
Boric acid suppositories designed for vaginal use are considered safe in the short term when used as prescribed or under medical guidance. While some concerns may arise due to boric acid's association with borax, a compound found in household cleaning products and pesticides, it's essential to note that boric acid and borax are distinct substances.
Despite sharing a common compound, boric acid suppositories are specifically formulated for vaginal insertion and should never be ingested orally. The potential dangers arise when boric acid is consumed in "extreme amounts," with toxicity occurring at 15-20 grams for adults and 5 grams for infants.
It's crucial to emphasize that the recommended dosage of boric acid vaginal suppositories is typically 600 milligrams, and they are considered safe when used as directed – inserted into the vagina, not taken orally. To put it in perspective, an adult would need to ingest an 25 vaginal capsules simultaneously to reach toxic levels.

I’m pregnant, or breastfeeding. Can I use boric acid?
Boric acid is not recommended for use during pregnancy or if you’re actively trying to conceive.
While it’s considered safe for most women, there isn’t enough research to confirm its safety for pregnant individuals or developing babies. Because of this, we always recommend erring on the side of caution and avoiding use during this time.
If you're unsure, it's best to speak with your healthcare provider before starting any new intimate care routine.
